How do you tell someone you’re drowning without opening your mouth to speak….to scream?
And if you did…if you managed to speak…would that not let one more wave in? Effectively ending the battle you knew you were losing? One minute closer to the end?
So, sometimes we drown in silence. With no one else around. Waiting for that final silence. A hope for solid ground.
Have a stiff upper lip, keep that chin up.
If the chin is up, the throat is bare.
In a world that feels like it’s out to get you, a clear shot at the jugular just doesn’t seem fair.
So drowning in silence with head down and mouth closed can seem like the best option. The safest way to go.
To keep from feeling weak. When you already feel battered and bruised. Seems like the best option to choose.
From one drowning person who found her way back, there is still beauty in holding on. I’m proof of that.
This may be a hard day, in a hard week, in a hard month, in a hard year. But don’t let it take you. Don’t disappear.
All you see is darkness, you can’t see how brightly you shine. The strength you give others. It’s your hope that they find.
No matter how many pieces you feel your life has crumbled in to, bring all those broken pieces home.
Life gets better than this. Let me be strong for you.
